I COULD DO THE TREQUARTIST, Contrasti magazine

Luciano Bianciardi in the 70s from the columns of the "Guerin Sportivo" answered the questions of readers - including Vittorio Gassman and Gino Paoli - on the most disparate issues venturing into unlikely parallels between players, writers and leaders of the Risorgimento, like Garibaldi (woe to speak ill of it), Cavour and King Umberto II. All with a Bianciardian touch, with playful and therefore very serious tones.

The articles selected here tell of an Italy in which sport was still a social liturgy: a phenomenon capable of escaping from the perimeter of the playing field to become a metaphor for the world.
